Exciting Update for UP PCS Aspirants

A significant development has emerged for candidates preparing for the UP PCS 2026 examination. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced an increase in the number of available positions for the PCS recruitment. Initially, the recruitment advertisement released in June indicated 500 posts; however, this number has now been raised to 728 due to additional vacancy information received from various departments—an increase of 228 posts. Importantly, this count is not final, as more vacancies may be added before the preliminary examination results are announced.

Increase in Posts from 500 to 728

The UPPSC initially declared 500 posts when it published the PCS-2026 recruitment advertisement on June 25. Following this, various departments provided details regarding their vacant positions to the Commission. With these additions, the total number of vacancies has now reached 728, enhancing opportunities for PCS candidates. The Commission may still receive updates on further vacancies from other departments.

Majority of Vacancies in Secondary Education Department

As per the latest information, the Secondary Education Department holds the highest number of vacancies, with 158 posts for Principal. Additionally, there are 41 positions available for roles such as Assistant District Inspector of Schools, Deputy Secretary (Secondary Education Board), and District Inspector of Schools. The recruitment also includes 122 posts for Senior Lecturers at DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) under the Basic Education Department.

Vacancies Across Various Departments

The Urban Development Department has 26 posts for Assistant Municipal Commissioner/Executive Officer (Category-2) and nine for Accounts and Finance Officers. Other positions include 56 Assistant Commissioners (Industries), 16 Labour Enforcement Officers, 17 Food Safety Officers, and 14 Excise Inspectors. The State Agricultural Produce Mandi Council has 28 posts for Secretary (Category-2), seven for Accounts and Reconciliation Officer, and two for Marketing Officer. Additionally, there are five posts in the Finance Department and eight for Administrator in the Secretariat Administration.

Overview of Additional Posts

The Social Welfare Department has 13 posts for District Social Welfare Officer and equivalent ranks, along with seven posts for District Probation Officer. There are four posts each for District Supply Officer, District Commandant (Home Guards), and Assistant Commissioner (Khadi and Village Industries). Furthermore, there are two posts for District Panchayat Raj Officer.

Moreover, one post each is available for District Programme Officer, Assistant Controller (Legal Metrology), Officer on Special Duty (Computer), Assistant Prosecution Officer, and District Minority Welfare Officer. The preliminary examination for PCS-2026 is scheduled to take place in December.
