UP Board Takes Action Against Teachers Ahead of 2026 Exams

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has made a significant administrative decision by prohibiting 896 teachers from engaging in any examination-related tasks for the upcoming UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations in 2026. This measure aims to uphold discipline, transparency, and security during the board examinations. The list of these restricted teachers has been disseminated to all District School Inspectors (DIOS) throughout the state to ensure consistent enforcement of this directive.

Preparations for the 2026 examinations are already underway. According to the official timetable, Class 12 practical exams will commence on January 24, 2026, while the theory exams for both High School and Intermediate levels will begin on February 18, 2026. With a large number of students expected to participate, the board is committed to preventing any irregularities or unfair practices.

Rationale Behind the UP Board's Decision

The UP Board has prioritized the integrity of the examination process. Past incidents of negligence and violations of examination protocols involving certain teachers prompted this decision. A review of previous records led to the identification of teachers who had committed misconduct or failed to adhere to examination guidelines.

Consequently, the board has mandated that 896 teachers will be barred from any exam-related responsibilities during the 2026 board examinations, which includes roles such as invigilation, supervision, and evaluation of answer sheets.

Lifetime Ban for 70 Teachers

In a more stringent action, the UP Board has imposed a lifetime ban on 70 teachers, permanently excluding them from all examination-related duties. These teachers were found guilty of serious violations, leading to this unprecedented measure. Once banned, they will not be permitted to participate in any future board examination responsibilities.

Distribution of Restricted Teachers by Region

Data indicates that the Prayagraj region has the highest number of restricted teachers. The breakdown of the 896 barred teachers is as follows:

  • Prayagraj region: 241 teachers (including 70 with lifetime bans)

  • Varanasi region: 217 teachers

  • Meerut region: 204 teachers

  • Gorakhpur region: 121 teachers

  • Bareilly region: 113 teachers

The board has instructed regional and district authorities to ensure that none of these teachers are assigned any examination-related duties under any circumstances.

Instructions to District Authorities

UPMSP has provided official instructions along with the detailed list of restricted teachers to all District School Inspectors. The board has stressed that no restricted teacher should be appointed as an invigilator, examiner, centre superintendent, or evaluator. Any breach of this directive may result in disciplinary action against the responsible officials.

This action comes just before the Intermediate practical examinations, indicating the board's intent to mitigate any risks prior to the examination cycle.

Reinstatement of Some Teachers

While the board has taken strict measures against many, it has also reinstated certain teachers whose bans were set to expire in 2025. After reviewing their cases, the board has permitted them to resume examination duties in the upcoming exams. However, several teachers remain barred until 2026, and some until 2027, depending on the severity of their previous violations.

A Strong Message Ahead of the 2026 Board Exams

With practical exams approaching and theory exams to follow, this decisive action underscores the UP Board’s commitment to conducting fair, transparent, and malpractice-free examinations. By enforcing these restrictions at both district and regional levels, the board aims to restore public confidence in the examination system.

This initiative reassures students and parents that the 2026 UP Board examinations will be conducted under strict supervision and ethical standards. For teachers and administrators, it sends a clear message that any lapse in examination duty will not be tolerated.

As the UP Board approaches the exam dates, these firm administrative measures highlight its determination to safeguard the future of millions of students through a secure and credible examination process.
