The Supreme Court has announced a recruitment drive for 250 Junior Court Assistants (JCA). The online application process is set to commence on October 7.


This recruitment initiative aims to fill 250 positions for Junior Court Assistants, with the application window open until 11:55 PM on October 28, 2026. These roles are classified as Group-B non-gazetted positions, and the Junior Court Assistant role is categorized under Level-6 of the pay matrix, offering a starting salary of ₹35,400 per month, along with additional allowances as per the applicable regulations.


As per the Supreme Court's notification, the number of available Junior Court Assistant positions is tentative and may be adjusted based on administrative needs or Registry requirements. Reservation benefits will be provided in accordance with Rule 4-A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules, 1961.


Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

Who can apply?


To be eligible, candidates must be Indian citizens and possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in India. Proficiency in computer operations and a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute are essential. The age limit for applicants is set between 18 and 30 years as of September 1, 2026. Age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, and Ex-Serviceman candidates as per the rules. Additionally, dependents of freedom fighters may receive an extra relaxation of up to 5 years. The upper age limit does not apply to departmental candidates from the Supreme Court Registry.

The application fee is ₹1,500 for candidates in the General and OBC categories, while it is ₹750 for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Ex-Servicemen, and PwD candidates. Additional bank charges will apply. Payments can only be made online through the UCO Bank payment gateway.


Selection Process Overview

Four-Stage Selection Process


The selection for the Junior Court Assistant position will occur in four stages: an objective-type test, a computer typing speed test, a descriptive written test in English, and an interview. The objective test will feature 100 questions worth a total of 100 marks, covering topics such as English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, relevant provisions of the Indian Constitution, Supreme Court Rules 2013, Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules 1961, and computer knowledge. A penalty of 0.25 marks will be applied for incorrect answers. Candidates must achieve a minimum of 50 marks in the objective test to qualify for the next stages. If a large number of candidates qualify, the selection for the typing and written tests will follow a ratio of approximately 1:10.

The objective-type test for the Junior Court Assistant role is tentatively scheduled for November 20, 2026. The answer key will be available on November 22, and candidates can raise objections from November 22 to 23. Dates for the typing test, descriptive exam, and interview will be announced later.
