SSC Introduces Sliding Mechanism to Fill Vacant Positions in Recruitment
Significant Changes in SSC Recruitment Process
Transforming SSC Recruitment: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced a pivotal update for candidates aspiring for government positions. Historically, many diligent applicants have missed out on opportunities due to unfilled vacancies. However, this issue is set to change with the introduction of a new policy known as the "Sliding Mechanism," which functions similarly to a waiting list. Let’s explore the details of this innovative approach...
The Rationale Behind the Change
Addressing Vacancies:
The SSC has observed a recurring trend where numerous positions remain unfilled annually. This often occurs when selected candidates either do not show up for document verification or opt for better job offers elsewhere. Previously, the absence of a waiting list meant that these vacancies would roll over to the next recruitment cycle, disadvantaging eligible candidates from the current year. To mitigate this issue, a new rule has been established.
Understanding the 'Sliding Mechanism'
Initial Round (FRTA)
The results will be published using the traditional method, with candidates assigned roles based on their preferences.
Aadhaar Verification (IV)
Candidates listed in the first round must visit their respective SSC regional office to complete Aadhaar verification within a 10-day timeframe.
Options: FIX and FLOAT
During the verification process, candidates will have two choices:
FIX
If satisfied with the assigned position, candidates can select this option, ensuring their position remains unchanged.
FLOAT
Choosing this option allows candidates to be considered for a higher preference position if any vacancies arise.
Filling Vacant Positions
Handling Vacancies:
Any candidates who miss the verification will create vacancies that can be filled by those who opted for the FLOAT option. This enhances the likelihood of securing a preferred position based on merit. Following this process, the final results will be announced, and selected candidates' files will be forwarded to the appropriate departments.
Important Considerations
This procedure will occur only once; the list will not be reissued. If a candidate selects 'FLOAT' and is offered a new position, they must accept it. Failure to do so will result in the loss of both the original and new positions. Additionally, candidates who do not attend the verification within the specified period will have their applications canceled.
The SSC is confident that this initiative will benefit students and increase employment opportunities for youth. A detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be released shortly.
