SSC Introduces Reforms for Enhanced Examination Transparency and Security
New Reforms by SSC
Overview: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has rolled out a series of reforms aimed at improving the transparency, security, and convenience of its examinations for millions of candidates nationwide. These modifications are designed to uphold the integrity of the examination process while prioritizing the needs and comfort of the candidates.
Candidate Access to Examination Materials
Candidates now have the ability to access their question papers, their submitted answers, and the correct answers. This feature allows them to assess their preparation levels, contest answer keys, and keep copies for future reference.
Reduced Objection Fee
New Fee Structure:
The SSC has simplified the objection process by lowering the fee for contesting an answer to just 50 Rupees, down from 100 Rupees. This change alleviates some of the financial pressure on candidates. Additionally, a toll-free helpline (1800-309-3063) has been established, along with an online portal for feedback and complaints, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
Fair Results Through Normalization
Uniform Percentage Normalization:
To ensure fairness in results, the SSC has implemented a uniform percentage normalization process. This approach evaluates candidates based on their percentage scores rather than raw scores. In cases where a specific batch encounters a challenging paper, normalization guarantees equitable results across all groups.
Enhanced Security Measures
Cheating Prevention:
To bolster exam security, several measures have been introduced. Aadhaar-based authentication is now in place to deter cheating and prevent candidates from attempting the same exam multiple times. Question papers are dispatched from a secure digital vault, making unauthorized access difficult. Additionally, specialized IT agencies are monitoring for hacking attempts and other technical issues.
Upcoming Re-examination
Details on Re-examination:
Approximately 2.8 million candidates registered for the recent Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2025, with 1.35 million appearing across 45 shifts at 255 centers in 126 cities. Due to technical difficulties at some locations, a re-examination is scheduled for October 14th for those affected. The process for contesting questions will commence on October 15th.
Official Communication Channels
To facilitate direct communication with candidates, the SSC has launched its official account on X (@SSC_GoI). The Commission encourages all candidates to rely solely on official announcements and to be wary of misinformation circulating online.
