Southern Railway Apprentice Recruitment



Railway Apprentice Vacancy: An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals seeking apprenticeships with Indian Railways. Southern Railway is currently accepting applications for a total of 3,518 apprentice roles. The application window opened on August 25th and will close on September 25th. Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official website.


Eligible applicants from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands, and specific districts in Andhra Pradesh (SPSR Nellore and Chittoor) as well as Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka are encouraged to apply for this apprenticeship.


Eligibility Criteria for Apprenticeship (Fresher Category)


For Fitter, Painter, and Welder positions: Candidates must have completed 10th grade with a minimum of 50% marks under the 10+2 education system or its equivalent.


For Medical Laboratory Technician roles (Radiology, Pathology, Cardiology): Candidates should have passed the 12th class with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.


Ex-ITI Category:
For trades such as Fitter, Machinist, MMV, Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Carpenter, Painter, Welder (G&E), Wireman, Advanced Welder, Plumber, Draughtsman (Civil), and Mechanical R&AC: Candidates must have completed 10th grade with a minimum of 50% marks and an ITI course in the relevant trade from a recognized institution, along with a certificate from NCVT or SCVT.


Electrician:
Candidates must have completed 10th grade with at least 50% marks in Science and an ITI course in the relevant trade, along with a certificate from NCVT or SCVT.


Electronics Mechanic:
Candidates should have passed 10th grade with a minimum of 50% marks in Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics, and completed an ITI course in the relevant trade with a certificate from NCVT or SCVT.


Secretariat Assistant and Stenographer (English):
Candidates must have completed 12th grade and an ITI course in the relevant trade, along with a certificate from NCVT or SCVT.


Duration of Apprenticeship
For Fresher Category:

3. Medical Laboratory Technician (Cardiology, Radiology, and Pathology) | 1 year 3 months


For Ex-ITI candidates, the training duration will be adjusted according to Schedule I of the Apprentices Rules 1992, as amended.
