Major Update for Military Nursing Service Personnel

Important Announcement for MNS Employees: Employees of the Military Nursing Service (MNS) have received noteworthy news from the Ministry of Defense. MNS personnel will now be recognized as ex-servicemen, making their re-employment process significantly easier. This change is part of an amendment to existing regulations, which will take effect on February 9, 2026. The Defense Ministry has officially updated the Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Central Civil Services and Posts) Amendment Rules, 2026, in accordance with Article 309 of the Central Government.

Details of the New Regulations:
The Ministry of Defense has expanded the definition of ex-servicemen to include MNS employees. This amendment specifically alters Rule 2(c)(i) to encompass personnel from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. Importantly, all MNS employees, irrespective of their rank—whether combatant or non-combatant—are now classified as ex-servicemen.

Enhanced Re-employment Opportunities:
With this new classification, MNS employees will enjoy the same re-employment benefits as other ex-servicemen. The Ministry of Defense has announced that MNS personnel will benefit from a 10% reservation in Group C job recruitments, a 20% reservation in Group D positions, age relaxation (military service plus an additional 3 years), and equal consideration in UPSC/SSC recruitment processes.
