RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026: Key Updates and Changes
Important Announcement for RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026
A significant update has emerged for candidates interested in the Railway Station Master positions. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has assigned RRB Ajmer the task of overseeing the Station Master recruitment examination. This marks a pivotal moment as it is the first instance where the Station Master recruitment exam will be conducted independently.
In previous years, the recruitment for Station Masters was part of the RRB NTPC (Undergraduate) category. However, this year, the Station Master role has been excluded from the RRB NTPC recruitment process. Reports indicate that the Railways may release an advertisement this month to fill more than 1,200 vacant Station Master roles.
Chairman's Statement on Recruitment Advertisement
According to statements from Sanjeev Kumar, the Chairman of RRB Ajmer, the recruitment advertisement is expected to be published this month, with the number of available Station Master positions potentially surpassing 1,200. The Ajmer Board has a history of conducting Railway Group B recruitment examinations.
Revised Age Limit for Applicants
The Railway Recruitment Board has updated the minimum age requirement for the Station Master position, raising it from 18 to 20 years. The maximum age limit remains unchanged at 30 years.
New Selection Process Details
For the 2026 Station Master recruitment, the Railway Recruitment Board will issue a distinct Centralized Employment Notification and has streamlined the selection process by eliminating the previous two-stage written examination. Candidates will now only need to take a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT).
This written examination will be worth 100 marks and will last for two hours. It will consist of questions totaling 60 marks on Basic Science, Mathematics, and Data Analysis; 20 marks on Logical Capability; and 20 marks on Mental Reasoning. Following the written test, eight times the number of available vacancies will be invited to participate in a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
The final merit list will be determined by combining 70% of the written exam scores with 30% from the CBAT. Candidates will then undergo document verification and a medical examination in a 1:1 ratio. Only graduates are eligible to apply for this position, which offers a pay scale of Level-6, with a medical standard requirement of A-2.
