NTA Establishes New Expert Panel Following NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak

In light of the NEET UG 2026 paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken decisive action by forming a new expert panel of 5,000 professionals. This initiative aims to enhance the integrity of the examination process and includes significant changes to the question-setting methodology. The NTA is also overhauling its question bank system to prevent future leaks. This article delves into the responsibilities of the new panel, the entrance examinations conducted by the NTA, and the measures being implemented to ensure a secure testing environment.

Introduction to NTA's New Measures

In response to the NEET UG 2026 examination paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has initiated significant reforms. This includes the dismissal of numerous staff members, notably a group of 600 experts who were previously involved in the creation and translation of exam papers. A new expert panel has now been formed to enhance the integrity of the examination process.

Formation of the New Expert Panel

The NTA has successfully established a new panel consisting of 5,000 experts tasked with developing question papers for NEET UG and other entrance tests. Additionally, the NTA plans to revise its methodology for setting these papers.

Overview of NTA's Entrance Examinations

The NTA is recognized as a leading agency in India for administering key entrance examinations, which include:

  • JEE Main (Sessions 1 and 2)

  • NEET UG

  • CUET UG

  • CUET PG

  • UGC NET

  • CSIR NET

Duties of the New Expert Panel

The newly formed panel comprises a diverse group of professionals, including educators, researchers, subject matter experts, and translators. Their responsibilities will encompass:

  • Preparation of question papers for NEET UG and other exams

  • Translation of exam materials

  • Syllabus mapping and moderation

  • Verification and evaluation of answer keys

  • Conducting psychometric validation

  • Handling other confidential tasks

Expert Panel Selection Process

The NTA's new expert panel was formed following a rigorous verification process. Expressions of Interest (EOI) were invited, and candidates underwent multiple screening levels before being selected. The appointed experts will serve a three-year term, with the EOI process remaining open for ongoing recruitment.

Enhancements to Prevent Future Leaks

The investigation into the NEET UG 2026 leak revealed that an expert had memorized questions before leaking them. To combat this issue, the NTA is overhauling its question bank system, aiming to create a vast repository of questions that would be difficult for any individual to memorize.
