This initiative will fill a total of 2,008 apprentice positions across various railway units. Notably, there will be no written examination; instead, selections will be based on the marks obtained in Class 10 and ITI.


Application Timeline and Process

The recruitment process for the year 2026-27 is being conducted under the Apprentices Act of 1961. The official notification was released on October 1, 2026. Interested candidates can start applying online from October 7, 2026, and the application window will close at 11:59 PM on November 6, 2026. Applications must be submitted online, and there is no requirement to send a physical copy to the railway authorities.

Available Trades for Apprentice Training

Applicants must choose only one unit from the available options, as multiple applications for different units are not allowed.


Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed their Class 10 examination (or equivalent) from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Rounding off of marks is not allowed. Additionally, candidates should hold a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade, issued by either the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT). Those awaiting final exam results are not eligible to apply.


Age Requirements:
Applicants must be aged between 15 and 24 years as of November 6, 2026. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwBD candidates.


Selection Process

No Written Exam:
This recruitment does not involve a written test. A merit list will be created based on the average percentage of marks from Class 10 and the ITI course in the relevant trade. Candidates will be ranked according to their scores, with older candidates receiving preference in case of a tie. The selection process will also include document verification and a medical examination.

Application Fee:
The fee for applying is ₹100, payable online. However, SC, ST, PwBD, and female candidates are exempt from this fee. Payment can be made using debit cards, credit cards, or internet banking, and candidates should be aware of any transaction fees that may apply. Once the fee is paid, no changes to the application will be allowed.
