A Beacon of Hope: Nishi Gupta's Story
Inspiring Journey: Nishi Gupta from Kanpur serves as a symbol of hope for daughters striving to fulfill their dreams amidst financial hardships and societal pressures. Born into a modest family, Nishi achieved the top rank in the UP PCS-J 2022 examination, making a name for herself across the state. Her father runs a betel shop, yet he prioritized his daughter's education despite facing societal criticism. Today, Nishi's success stands as a testament to her family's struggles and unwavering belief.
Father's Betel Shop: A Humble Beginning
Nishi Gupta hails from a simple joint family in Kanpur, where her father operates a betel shop. Their financial situation often made it challenging to manage school fees and books. Nevertheless, Nishi persevered in her studies and completed her schooling in Kanpur. The family's limited income did not hinder her aspirations.
Studying in Hindi, Choosing Law as a Career
From a young age, Nishi excelled academically, receiving her education in a Hindi medium school. After completing her 12th grade, she decided to pursue a career in law. Understanding English and legal terminology posed a challenge, but she remained determined. She completed her LLB and LLM from Allahabad University, becoming the first in her family to enter the legal field.
Facing Criticism for Educating His Daughter
Nishi's family faced societal pressure, especially since her elder sister married at just 23. In such an environment, it was not easy for her father to decide to continue Nishi's education. Despite the pressure from society and relatives, he ensured that Nishi's studies did not come to a halt, ignoring the criticism and allowing her to pursue her goals.
Preparing for Judicial Services with Sister's Books
Due to financial constraints, buying new books was difficult for Nishi. Instead, she studied using her elder sister's books. During her preparation, a study partner also supported her. According to Nishi, success in the judicial service exam requires repetition, retention, and reproduction—essentially, revisiting material, memorizing it, and writing it correctly in the exam. She also focused on improving her English skills.
Achieving First Rank in UP PCS-J After Setbacks
Nishi had previously attempted the judicial service exams in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, reaching the interview stage but narrowly missing selection by a single mark. Despite these setbacks, she identified her weaknesses and continued her preparation. Ultimately, she secured the first rank in the UP PCS-J 2022 examination, making her father proud. According to official records from the Allahabad High Court, Nishi Gupta currently serves as a Civil Judge (Junior Division) and Judicial Magistrate in Mahoba.
