New TGT Recruitment Rules in Uttar Pradesh: TET Requirement Introduced
Update on UP Teacher Recruitment
UP Teacher Recruitment: A significant update has emerged for individuals aspiring to become teachers in Uttar Pradesh. The regulations governing the recruitment of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) in recognized and government-aided schools have been revised. The UP government has communicated this change to the Secretary of the UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), indicating that passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is now a prerequisite for TGT recruitment in aided schools. Consequently, only those candidates who have successfully completed the TET will be eligible to apply for TGT roles in these institutions. However, an exemption has been granted until June 30, 2027, by which time candidates must secure a valid TET certificate.
Understanding the Changes:
Let's delve deeper into the previous TGT recruitment rules for aided schools and the anticipated number of TGT positions available for recruitment.
TET Requirement Introduced:
Previously, candidates who had not cleared the TET were allowed to apply for TGT roles in recognized and government-aided schools in UP based on alternative qualifications, such as holding a B.Ed. degree. However, the new regulations now mandate that TET qualification is essential for TGT recruitment in these schools.
Revised TGT Recruitment Rules:
The Secondary Education Department has published updated rules for TGT recruitment in aided schools, which now necessitate the TET qualification. An official notification regarding TGT recruitment will be released in line with these updated rules.
Eligibility Criteria:
Under the new guidelines, candidates wishing to apply for TGT positions in aided schools must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks or a master’s degree with at least 45% marks. Additionally, they must possess a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution and have qualified for the TET or CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) administered by the state or central government.
Exemption Period and Upcoming TET:
The requirement to qualify for the TET has been established for TGT recruitment in aided schools. Candidates have been granted an exemption until June 30, 2027, to obtain a valid TET/CTET certificate. The commission has clarified that this exemption will apply if recruitment occurs during this timeframe. However, if a candidate who has not qualified for the TET is selected, the issuance of their appointment letter will depend on document verification. Furthermore, the commission has announced that a new TET examination will be conducted shortly.
Anticipated TGT Recruitment:
TGT recruitment for aided schools in Uttar Pradesh is on the horizon. The UPESSC is expected to release a notification for TGT recruitment soon. While the exact number of vacancies remains undisclosed, it is projected that over 15,000 positions will be filled.
