New Recruitment Rules for BSF: Ex-Agniveers Get 50% Reservation
Significant Changes in BSF Recruitment
Ex-Agniveer Reservation: The central government has introduced important modifications to the recruitment framework for the Border Security Force (BSF). Under the revised guidelines for the General Duty (GD) cadre, half of the yearly job openings will be allocated to ex-Agniveers. Additionally, 10% of the positions will be set aside for ex-servicemen, while up to 3% of vacancies will be designated for direct recruitment to the Combatant Constable (Tradesman) roles.
Moreover, a provision has been established to allow a maximum of 3% reservation for filling annual vacancies through direct recruitment for Combatant Constable (Tradesman) positions. These updated regulations are effective as of December 18, 2025.
The central government has enacted these new rules under the authority granted by clauses (b) and (c) of sub-section (2) of section 141 of the Border Security Force Act, 1968, amending the Border Security Force, General Duty Cadre (Non-Gazetted) Recruitment Rules, 2015.
