Introduction of New National Anthem Protocol

The central government has released new directives concerning the performance of the national anthem, Vande Mataram. As per a Home Ministry order issued on January 28, Vande Mataram is now mandated to be played at government events, educational institutions, and other formal gatherings, with all attendees required to stand. Under these guidelines, schools will commence each day with the national anthem. In instances where both Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana are performed, Vande Mataram will take precedence and be sung first. This marks the first time a clear protocol has been established for the national anthem.

Additionally, the government is organizing special events this year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.
