NEET Re-Exam 2026 Concludes: Alternative Medical Course Admissions Available
Overview of NEET Re-Exam 2026
The NEET Re-Exam for 2026 has successfully taken place. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026, which was previously cancelled due to a paper leak, was conducted smoothly on June 21. Over 2.2 million candidates participated in this examination, while the number of available MBBS seats in the country is less than 150,000. A NEET score is essential for admission into various medical programs, including BAMS, BHMS, and nursing. As a result, many candidates strive for high scores in NEET UG, yet a significant number do not secure an MBBS seat despite achieving commendable marks. Additionally, some students fail to reach a competitive score and subsequently withdraw from the educational system.
Opportunities Beyond NEET
This year, candidates have alternative pathways to pursue a career in the medical field without needing a NEET score. For example, students can gain admission to reputable medical courses based on their Class 12 results. Here are the details:
Candidates can enroll in 13 allied healthcare courses without a NEET score. These programs are overseen by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP). The following courses are available:
- Physiotherapy (BPT)

Changes in Admission Criteria
**NEET Score Requirement Postponed**
Initially, admissions for these 13 allied health courses were expected to rely on NEET-UG scores starting this year. An official notification was issued regarding this, but a subsequent announcement in March clarified that the use of NEET-UG scores for admissions to allied health courses like BPT and BOT would not be implemented for the 2026-27 academic year. This decision has been postponed until the 2027-28 academic year. Therefore, this year represents the final chance to gain admission to these courses without a NEET score, with universities still able to conduct admissions based on Class 12 marks.
