NEET 2026 Rescheduled Exam Faces Controversy Over Exam Center Allocation

The NEET 2026 re-examination is set for June 21, but a Nagpur student's allocation to an Abu Dhabi exam center has raised serious concerns. Dr. Mohammad Talib, the student's father, questions how his son, who took the original exam in Nagpur, could be assigned to an overseas center. With no passport, the student risks missing the exam and losing an academic year. The NTA has promised to address the issue, but uncertainty remains. This situation highlights the challenges faced by students amid the re-examination process following allegations of paper leaks.

NEET 2026 Rescheduled Exam Details

Following the recent paper leak incident, the NEET (NEET-2026) re-examination is set to take place on Sunday, June 21. Approximately 22 lakh students from across the nation are expected to participate. However, a significant error by the National Testing Agency (NTA) has come to light before the exam. New admit cards have been issued, and a student from Nagpur has been assigned an exam center in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, raising concerns. Dr. Mohammad Talib, the student's father, questioned how his son, who originally took the NEET exam in Nagpur on May 3, could be allocated a center in Abu Dhabi for the re-exam on June 21. He expressed worries that this situation could jeopardize his son's academic year.

Concerns Raised by the Student's Father

In a conversation with the media in Nagpur, Dr. Talib shared that despite multiple attempts to download the admit card since the 14th, they faced initial failures. When he finally managed to download it on Friday, June 19, and discovered the Abu Dhabi center, he immediately contacted the NTA helpline. Following the instructions from NTA officials, he also sent an email requesting a change of center. The officials assured him that the center would be changed to Nagpur by 4 PM on Saturday, June 20, and Dr. Talib remains hopeful that the NTA will fulfill this promise. A shocking aspect of the situation is that Abdullah does not possess a passport. Consequently, if the NTA fails to change the exam center, he will be unable to attend the exam and could lose an entire academic year.

Background of the NEET Re-examination

Due to allegations of paper leaks, the NEET re-examination for medical course admissions is scheduled for Sunday. The NTA has issued admit cards to all candidates for this purpose. Abdullah, the student from Nagpur, had selected Nagpur, Wardha, or Bhandara as his preferred exam centers, but his admit card assigned him to Abu Dhabi, UAE. The student and his parents have lodged a complaint with the NTA helpline regarding this issue and have requested a change of center. If the center is not changed, there is a risk that Abdullah will not be able to take the exam again. Currently, the NTA has assured that the center will be altered.
