MP RTE Admission 2026 Update

Important Announcement: The State Education Center has made a crucial decision regarding the free admissions for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. To accommodate students and their families, the admission deadline has been extended. Students selected in the initial lottery phase can now secure their spots in private schools until April 25, 2026, an extension from the previous deadline of April 15, 2026.

Guidelines for Smooth Admission Process

The State Education Center has provided essential guidelines to all districts to ensure a seamless admission process, ensuring that no eligible child misses out on the opportunity.

Lottery-Based School Allotment

Lottery Process:
Mr. Harjinder Singh, the Director of the State Education Center, explained that admissions for children from weaker sections in unaided private schools are conducted under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. On April 2, 2026, seats were allocated to students through an online lottery.

Parents were then instructed to complete the admission process from April 3 to April 15, 2026. Those who did not finalize the admission were notified via SMS.

Extension of Admission Deadline

Response to Parental Requests:
While most students secured admission on time, some parents faced challenges and requested an extension. In response, the State Education Center has granted an additional 10 days for admissions, allowing students to enroll until April 25, 2026.

Ensuring Transparency in Admissions

Action Against Private School Practices:
To maintain transparency, the State Education Center has instructed district officials to act promptly on any complaints regarding denied admissions. Block Resource Coordinators (BRCs) and District Project Coordinators (DPCs) are tasked with ensuring that children receive admission to their designated schools.

Monitoring and Oversight

Daily Reviews:
To enhance oversight, daily reviews will be conducted at the district level to ensure that all eligible children benefit from this initiative.
