Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam

**Who is Eligible for the TET Exam?**

Teachers employed in state government schools who have not yet passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) as required by the Right to Education (RTE) Act must take this eligibility test. This requirement applies to both primary and secondary level educators.

For primary-level teachers: This includes assistant teachers, primary teachers, Contract School Teachers (Category III), and laboratory teachers.

For secondary-level teachers: High-grade teachers, secondary teachers, *Adhyapaks*, and Contract School Teachers (Category II) are also required to take the exam if they have not previously passed the eligibility test.

Exemption for CTET-qualified teachers: Those who have already cleared the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) are exempt from retaking this eligibility test.

Private School Teachers' Participation

Teachers working in private (non-government) schools at both primary and secondary levels in the state are also eligible to take this test; the opportunity is not restricted to government school educators.

Application Process and Deadline

Regarding exam centers, priority will generally be given to the teacher's district of employment. Candidates will typically be assigned an exam center at the district headquarters of their employment district. However, if the number of candidates in a district is low, they may be assigned to a nearby district's exam center.
