Maharashtra TET to Transition to Online Format Following Paper Leak Incident
Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test Update
Maharashtra TET: The ongoing investigation into the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak has prompted significant changes. Starting in 2027, the Maharashtra government has decided to conduct the TET online. This decision comes in response to the recent paper leak incident, and a planning committee will be established to oversee the transition to an online format.
Understanding the Paper Leak Incident
On June 28, the Maharashtra TET was set to take place across 1,028 centers, with over 400,000 candidates expected to participate. However, just a day before the exam, reports surfaced indicating that the exam paper had been leaked. In response, Bhiwandi police conducted raids and discovered materials resembling the TET 2026 questions in the possession of certain individuals.
Cancellation of the TET Exam
Due to the paper leak, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) in Pune has canceled the TET 2026. The Council emphasized its commitment to conducting examinations transparently and fairly, leading to the postponement of the June 28 exam until a thorough investigation is completed.
Previous Paper Leak Incidents
This isn't the first occurrence of a TET paper leak in Maharashtra; a similar incident was reported in Kolhapur in 2025. The government faces ongoing challenges in ensuring the integrity of the TET process.
Advantages of the Online TET Format
The shift to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format is expected to benefit candidates, although it may present difficulties for those who are not proficient with computers.
