Maharashtra Police Constable Recruitment 2025

The Maharashtra government has made a significant announcement regarding the recruitment of police constables. A total of 15,631 positions are now open within the state police and jail department, and candidates who have exceeded the age limit from 2022 to 2025 will now be eligible to apply. This decision provides a crucial opportunity for many young individuals who have been preparing for these roles but were previously disqualified due to age restrictions.

As per the Home Department's notification, the previous exemption applied only to those who surpassed the age limit in 2022 and 2023. However, this has now been expanded to include candidates from 2024 and 2025 as well. It is important to note that this exemption will be granted only once.

Proposal Origin

The proposal for this special exemption was put forth by the Special Inspector General (Training and Special Team) of Maharashtra Police. On September 1, 2025, he submitted a letter advocating for the inclusion of many eligible candidates who were excluded solely due to age limitations. The government has accepted this recommendation.

Significance of the Decision

This exemption is particularly beneficial for candidates who have been diligently preparing over the past few years. Those whose ages had surpassed the limit in previous years will now have another opportunity to apply for these positions.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected through a written examination, which will utilize OMR sheets. The examination fee is set at Rs 450 for general category applicants and Rs 350 for those in reserved categories. The recruitment includes 12,399 Police Constable positions, 234 Police Constable Driver roles, 25 Bandsman posts, 2,393 Armed Police Constable positions, and 580 Jail Constable roles.
