Exciting Opportunity for Job Seekers in Jharkhand: The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has announced updated timelines for the online application process for 1,733 Jail Warder positions. Initially set to commence on November 7, 2025, the application window will now open on January 9, 2026. Interested candidates can submit their applications until February 8, 2026.
Application Process and Correction Window
Applicants must pay the required fee, upload their photographs and signatures, and print their application forms by February 10, 2026. A correction window will be available from February 11 to February 13, 2026, allowing candidates to rectify any mistakes in their applications. However, changes to the name, date of birth, email ID, or mobile number will not be permitted.
Recruitment Rules and Guidelines
The recruitment will adhere to the Jharkhand State Police, Jail Warder, Constable (Home Guard), and Excise Constable Joint Recruitment Rules – 2025. The selection process, including physical examinations, will follow these established guidelines.
Sports Quota Clarifications
In the latest announcement, the JSSC has provided clarity regarding the sports quota. Athletes who have achieved second or third place in national competitions recognized by the Indian Olympic Association or its affiliates will qualify. Additionally, those who have secured first place in state-level events organized by the Jharkhand Olympic Association will also be eligible, along with players who have set national records.
Eased Physical Test Requirements
The physical efficiency test for Jail Warder recruitment has been significantly relaxed. Male candidates are now required to complete a 1,600-meter run in 6 minutes, down from the previous 10 kilometers. Female candidates must complete the same distance in 10 minutes, reduced from 6 kilometers. This adjustment is expected to benefit many applicants.
Vacancy Breakdown
A total of 1,733 positions are available, with 1,634 allocated for men and 64 for women. Among the male positions, 165 are reserved for ex-servicemen, 413 for Home Guards, and the remaining 1,056 for other candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
The minimum educational requirement for applicants is a 10th-grade pass. The age criteria stipulate that candidates must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 25 years. Age relaxations apply: 2 years for men from the Extremely Backward Class, 3 years for women from Unreserved, Extremely Backward Class, and EWS categories, and 5 years for SC-ST candidates.
Physical Standards
For male candidates from Unreserved, EWS, and Extremely Backward Classes, the minimum height is set at 160 cm, with an expanded chest measurement of 81 cm. For SC and ST males, the height requirement is 155 cm with a chest measurement of 79 cm. The minimum height for female candidates is 148 cm.
Selection Process and Salary
The selection will begin with physical measurements and efficiency tests. Candidates who pass these will proceed to a written examination, followed by a medical check-up. Successful candidates will receive a salary ranging from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200, classified under Level-2.
