Exciting Opportunity for Aspiring Home Guards: The Jharkhand government has announced the recruitment of 463 Home Guard positions in the Chatra district. The application process commenced on September 15, 2025, and interested candidates can submit their applications online until September 30, 2025.
Applications can be submitted via the official district website at chatra.nic.in. A nominal application fee of Rs 100 is applicable for all applicants.
Available Positions for Rural and Urban Areas
This recruitment drive offers opportunities for both rural and urban home guard roles. Male and female candidates are welcome to apply, with 434 positions designated for rural home guards and 29 for urban home guards (both technical and non-technical). In total, 463 vacancies are available, with 235 reserved for men and 228 for women.
Eligibility Criteria for Jharkhand Home Guard
For rural home guard roles, candidates must have completed at least the seventh grade and be permanent residents of Chatra district.
Urban home guard applicants must have a minimum educational qualification of tenth grade (matriculation) and should be residents of urban areas.
Age and Physical Standards
Applicants must be aged between 19 and 40 years as of January 1, 2025.
Height requirements are as follows: male candidates from general, OBC, and BC categories must be at least 162 cm tall, while SC and ST males should be 157 cm. Female candidates must have a minimum height of 148 cm. Additionally, male candidates should have a chest measurement of 79 cm, with a relaxation of 3 cm for reserved categories.
Selection Process and Physical Test
The selection will involve a physical examination, a written test, and a technical efficiency test (for urban technical roles). The physical test will include running, high jump, long jump, and shot put.
For the running test, male candidates must complete a one-mile run in under five minutes to earn 20 marks; those finishing between five and six minutes will receive 10 marks, while those taking longer will be disqualified. Female candidates must also run a mile, with 20 marks awarded for completion in eight minutes and 10 marks for finishing between eight and ten minutes.
