Indian Air Force Introduces GATE-Based Recruitment for Technical Branch

The Indian Air Force has launched a new recruitment scheme for its Technical Branch, allowing candidates to apply using their Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores. This initiative enables direct shortlisting for testing at the Air Force Selection Board, exempting candidates from preliminary written exams like AFCAT. The Ministry of Defence emphasizes merit-based selection, offering candidates the flexibility to choose between applying through GATE or AFCAT. This new approach aims to streamline the recruitment process and provide more opportunities for eligible candidates.

New Recruitment Initiative by the Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has unveiled a new recruitment scheme for the Technical Branch (Officer Cadre), allowing eligible candidates to apply using their Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores. This initiative enables candidates with a valid GATE score to be directly shortlisted for assessments at the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB).

Selection will be merit-based, which means candidates will not need to take preliminary written tests like the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). However, AFCAT will still be the primary entrance exam for all IAF branches, including the Technical Branch.
