Update on SSC GD Constable Exam 2026: As previously mentioned, the SSC GD exam has indeed been postponed. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a new notification confirming that the GD Constable exam, originally set for February 23rd, will not take place as planned. New dates for the exam will be announced shortly.

Changes to Slot Booking for the SSC GD Exam

Candidates will no longer be able to book slots for the GD exam. This change means that the SSC will assign exam cities based on candidates' preferences, which is a notable shift from the previous system where candidates could select their preferred exam city through slot booking. The SSC has not clarified if this change applies solely to this exam or if it will affect future exams as well.

The recent notice states, "The Computer-Based Examination 2026 for Constables in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF and Riflemen (GD) in the Assam Rifles, which was scheduled for February 23, 2026, as per SSC Notice HQ-EC 033/7/2025 dated January 2, 2026, is postponed until further notice. New dates will be announced in due course. Furthermore, the slot selection facility will not be applicable for this exam."

Exam city slips for candidates will be issued 8-10 days prior to the exam date. Additionally, admit cards will be available for download 2-3 days before the exam.

Expected Timeline for the SSC GD Exam

The postponement of the SSC GD exam is believed to be linked to the MTS exam, which is scheduled from February 4th to February 19th, 2026. Due to cancellations at several exam centers, the SSC will need time to reschedule the GD exam accordingly.
