Haryana Police Constable Recruitment: Age Limit Relaxation Announced
Age Relaxation for Haryana Police Constable Positions
Haryana Police Constable Age Relaxation: The Haryana government has made a crucial decision to assist young applicants who were unable to apply for around 5,500 police constable roles due to age restrictions. Following the state government's recommendation, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has approved a three-year extension to the maximum age limit for eligible candidates. Additionally, the application deadline has been prolonged.
On Thursday, HSSC Chairman Himmat Singh announced this update on his Facebook page. He noted that numerous candidates had approached the Commission, expressing concerns that the Common Eligibility Test (CET) was delayed by nearly three years, causing them to surpass the age limit for police recruitment. In response to this issue, the state government has opted to provide age relaxation for these young individuals.
Recruitment for 5,500 positions with an extended deadline to January 31st.
Alongside the age relaxation, the Commission has granted an additional six days for applications. The new deadline for submitting applications is now January 31st at 11:59 PM. The online application process commenced on January 11th. Notably, the recruitment will fill 4,500 male constable positions, 600 female constable positions, and 400 constable roles within the Haryana Police.
To date, over 190,000 candidates have submitted their applications. The age for recruitment will be determined as of January 1st, 2026, which is the date the Commission released the recruitment advertisement.
The CET exam faced delays for three years post-2022.
The police constable recruitments for 2022 and 2023 were annulled.
Many candidates missed the CET and aged out of eligibility.
Despite passing the CET last year, they were not given recruitment opportunities.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini intervened following requests from the youth.
The Commission has now relaxed the age limit by three years.
The application deadline has also shifted from the 25th to January 31st at 11:59 PM.
Recruitment Delays Over Three Years.
Previously, many candidates had been advocating for age relaxation. They pointed out that the CET could not be conducted for three consecutive years after 2022, despite it being intended to occur annually. Numerous candidates had applied for police constable recruitment in 2022 and 2023, but those recruitments were canceled for various reasons. Consequently, they could not participate in the CET for three years and have now exceeded the age limit.
Candidates also highlighted that even though they passed the CET exam conducted last year, they are now barred from participating in police recruitment. They referenced the situation in Uttar Pradesh, where age relaxation was granted to candidates.
Taking the youth's demands seriously, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini instructed the HSSC to implement a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit, which was subsequently announced by the Commission's Chairman.
