The announcement stated, "The Haryana government has updated the syllabus for the HCS examination. The preliminary exam will now consist of two objective-type papers totaling 400 marks. The main examination will comprise 600 marks, including four General Studies papers and six descriptive papers, each lasting three hours and worth 100 marks."
