Government Expands Enforcement Directorate with 1,200 New Positions

The Central Government has announced a significant expansion of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by adding over 1,200 new positions, increasing its total staff to 3,256. This restructuring aims to enhance the agency's efficiency in investigations. Additionally, the Staff Selection Commission has begun the recruitment process for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2026 examination, offering 12,256 vacancies across various ministries. Candidates aged 18-32 for Group B and 18-27 for Group C positions are eligible to apply. The application deadline is June 22, with exams scheduled for later this year.
 

Expansion of the Enforcement Directorate


ED Vacancy: In a significant move to enhance the capabilities of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Government has approved the addition of over 1,200 new positions within the agency. The Ministry of Finance has also sanctioned a long-awaited cadre restructuring. As a result, the total workforce of the ED will increase from 2,029 to 3,256 personnel. This initiative aims to improve the efficiency and speed of the agency's investigative processes.

Under the revised structure, several key positions within the ED will see an increase. The number of Additional Directors will rise from 10 to 24, while Joint Directors will increase from 28 to 49. The Deputy Director positions will grow from 148 to 267, and Assistant Directors will see an increase from 255 to 531. Additionally, the count of Enforcement Officers will rise from 355 to 606. This expansion is expected to significantly boost the agency's operational efficiency.


Recruitment for SSC CGL 2026

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has commenced the recruitment process for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2026 examination. This recruitment drive will fill 12,256 vacancies across various Central Government ministries and departments. The application deadline is set for 11:00 PM on June 22, with the last date for fee payment on June 23. A correction window will be available from June 29 to July 1, and the examination is tentatively scheduled for August–September, with the Tier-2 exam likely in December.

The pay scales for these positions range from Pay Level 8 to Pay Level 4, covering roles such as Auditor, Inspector, Assistant, and Clerk.
