The recruitment drive for 227 Home Guard positions in Haridwar faced a shocking revelation as the department reviewed documents from around 11,000 applicants. An investigation led to the discovery of 30 candidates attempting to gain employment through fraudulent means, including the submission of fake sports certificates and counterfeit NCC and Scout-Guide credentials.

Thorough Document Verification Initiated

Under the orders of the Director General (DG) of Home Guards, a comprehensive verification of all submitted documents was conducted. This initiative aimed to uphold transparency in the recruitment process. The department reached out to various boards, universities, sports associations, and NCC units to validate the certificates of all applicants. The results confirmed that the claims of 30 candidates were entirely fabricated, as they had used forged documents to obtain extra marks.

Types of Irregularities Discovered

The fraudulent documents included not only academic qualifications (High School and Intermediate) but also falsified sports certificates, Scout-Guide documents, NCC certificates, and other papers related to reserved categories, all intended to secure additional points.

Statement from Home Guard Commandant Gautam

"Following the DG's instructions, we meticulously examined the certificates of all candidates prior to the recruitment process. Based on the verification feedback from the relevant institutions, we identified around 30 candidates with suspicious claims. Their applications have been annulled, their original documents seized, and written statements collected to prevent any potential misuse of these documents in the future."
