Extended Deadline for RRB Level 1 Recruitment Applications Announced
Important Update for Railway Job Seekers
New Delhi: A significant announcement has been made for those awaiting government jobs in the railway sector. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) have extended the deadline for applications for the RRB Level 1 recruitment 2026. Eligible candidates can now submit their online applications until March 9, 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 22,195 Level 1 positions across various RRBs.
Previous Deadline Was March 2
Initially, the registration process, which commenced on January 31, 2026, was set to close on March 2, 2026. With the extension of the deadline, candidates who have not yet applied now have an additional week to complete the process via the official portal.
Age Limit, Positions, and Salary
Under this recruitment, 22,195 vacancies will be filled at Level 1. Candidates must be between 18 to 33 years old as of January 1, 2026.
The starting salary for selected candidates will be ₹18,000 per month, as per the Level 1 pay matrix.
Applicants must have completed Class 10 or possess an ITI certificate or an equivalent qualification.
Age Relaxation as per Government Norms: Three years for OBC (NCL), five years for SC/ST, ten years for UR or EWS PWBD candidates, and an additional ten years for PWBD candidates in the respective reserved categories.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
The selection process will include a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), document verification, and a medical examination.
The exam will last for 90 minutes (120 minutes for candidates with disabilities who do not require a scribe). The question paper will consist of 100 questions worth a total of 100 marks, including 25 questions each from General Science and Mathematics, 30 questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, and 20 questions from General Awareness and Current Affairs. Each question will carry one mark.
Application Fee and Refund Policy
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Ex-servicemen, Persons with Disabilities, women, transgender individuals, minorities, and EBC categories will need to pay ₹250. This amount will be fully refunded after appearing for the CBT.
All other candidates are required to pay ₹500, of which ₹400 will be refunded after attending the CBT. Payment can be made online through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.
Important Dates to Remember
Online registration started on January 31, 2026, at 12:00 PM. The final date for applications is March 9, 2026, by 11:59 PM. The last date for fee payment is March 11, 2026. The facility for application modification will be available from March 12 to March 21, 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their details from March 22 to March 26, 2026.

Candidates must apply online exclusively through the official portal at www.rrbapply.gov.in. They need to complete the registration process, select the desired RRB/region, fill in personal and educational details, upload necessary documents, pay the application fee, and submit the form. It is advisable for applicants to keep a printout of the submitted application for future reference.
