Compared to other recruitment processes like CHSL, CGL, and MTS, the competition for stenographer positions is relatively lower due to the requirement of shorthand skills. Deadline for Applications


The last date to submit applications is set for May 15, 2026, with the deadline for fee payment on May 16, 2026. Candidates will have the opportunity to make corrections to their application forms from May 20 to May 21, 2026. The computer-based examination is scheduled to take place in July-August 2026.


Educational Qualifications Required

Eligibility Criteria


Candidates must have completed their 12th grade from a recognized board by August 1, 2026. Additionally, shorthand and transcription skills are mandatory for stenographers.


For Grade D, candidates must transcribe in English within 50 minutes and in Hindi within 65 minutes. For Grade C, the time limits are 40 minutes for English and 45 minutes for Hindi.


Age Limit and Relaxations

Age Criteria


The age limit is set at 18 to 30 years for Grade C and 18 to 27 years for Grade D. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxations as per government regulations, with SC/ST candidates receiving a 5-year relaxation, OBC candidates 3 years, and additional concessions for PWD candidates.

The selection process includes a written examination followed by a skill test in both Hindi and English. Regarding salary, Grade C positions offer a pay scale ranging from ₹9,300 to ₹34,800, while Grade D positions range from ₹5,200 to ₹20,200.
