Exciting Railway Job Openings: A fantastic chance has emerged for young aspirants looking to join the Indian Railways. The South East Central Railway (SECR) has issued a recruitment notification for Trade Apprentices for the year 2026-27. Notably, candidates will not need to take any written tests; selections will be made based on merit alone. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 1,644 positions.

This recruitment initiative is specifically for the Raipur Division and the Wagon Repair Shop, covering various trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Welder, COPA, Machinist, Stenographer (Hindi), Stenographer (English), and Mechanic.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have completed their 10th grade from a recognized board and achieved at least 50 percent marks. The Railways have made it clear that applications from those with 49.9 percent or lower will not be accepted. Additionally, candidates must hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, recognized by either NCVT or SCVT.

Age Limit and Relaxation: The age requirements for applicants are set between 15 and 24 years, calculated as of May 5, 2026. Relaxations in age limits will be provided to candidates from reserved categories as per government guidelines. SC and ST candidates will receive a 5-year relaxation, while OBC candidates will get a 3-year relaxation. Further concessions will be available for candidates with disabilities and ex-servicemen.

Selection Process: The selection for the SECR Apprentice positions will not involve a written exam or interview. Candidates will be chosen based on a merit list created from their 10th-grade and ITI course marks, with equal weightage given to both. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo document verification and a medical examination.

Application Timeline:
The online application process started on May 5, 2026, and will close at 11:59 PM on June 4, 2026. Applications will only be accepted online.

Application Procedure:
To apply, candidates should visit the website – apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. After registering and creating a Login ID, they should go to the ‘Establishment Search’ section, look for "SECR Raipur," and click the ‘Apply’ button for their respective trade. Candidates must upload their Class 10th marksheet, ITI certificate, Aadhaar card, photograph, and signature. After filling in all required details, they should submit the form and keep a printout for future reference.
