The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru has unveiled its fellowship program for 2026. This initiative allows candidates to participate in research, policy formulation, and academic endeavors. Different fellowship categories come with specific educational and experience prerequisites. Selected fellows will earn a monthly stipend that ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh, depending on the fellowship type.


**Types of Fellowships Available**


The NLSIU offers three distinct fellowship types tailored to various qualifications and experiences: Graduate Research Fellowship, Postdoctoral Fellowship, and University Research Fellowship.


For the **Graduate Research Fellowship**, applicants must possess an LL.B. degree. Those currently pursuing or holding a postgraduate degree in social sciences, public policy, or related fields are also welcome to apply.


The **Postdoctoral Fellowship** requires candidates to have completed a Ph.D. in law, social sciences, or public policy within the last three years. Additionally, applicants should not have previously held a postdoctoral role at another institution.


To qualify for the **University Research Fellowship**, candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have at least 10 years of teaching or professional experience in a relevant area, along with a robust publication history.


**Monthly Stipend Details**


The stipend varies by fellowship type: Graduate Research Fellows will receive ₹50,000 monthly, Postdoctoral Fellows will earn ₹1,20,000, and University Research Fellows can receive up to ₹2,00,000. Throughout the fellowship, selected individuals will be expected to engage in research and policy-related tasks.
