DSSSB Exams Postponed as Delhi Government Considers Age Limit Increase
DSSSB Examination Update
Significant developments have surfaced regarding the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) exams, originally set for March. These examinations have been temporarily delayed as the Delhi government is contemplating an increase in the age limit for candidates. Consequently, the exams are currently on hold. The DSSSB is responsible for recruiting Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) for Delhi government schools, and candidates have been advocating for a relaxation of the age limit for these positions.
Understanding the Concerns
Candidates argue that the existing age limit for the DSSSB exams is restrictive, preventing many eligible individuals from participating. They are requesting that the maximum age limit for PGT positions be raised to 36 years and for TGT positions to 32 years. They believe that the age restrictions for teacher recruitment in Delhi are more stringent compared to those in other states and central government roles.
Additionally, candidates for Primary Teacher (PRT) positions are seeking a five-year extension to the current age limit. Presently, only individuals aged 30 and below are eligible to take the DSSSB exams in Delhi, leading to ongoing frustration among applicants.
In response to directives from Education Minister Ashish Sood, the Education Department and relevant officials are discussing the proposal to modify the age limit. Sources indicate that a decision from the government may be forthcoming. Should the age limit be adjusted, it could benefit thousands of candidates. The public is now eagerly awaiting the government's announcement regarding new exam dates and the specifics of any age relaxations.
