DMRC Prioritizes Students During CBSE Exam Days for Smooth Travel

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a priority access system for students during CBSE exam days, effective from February 20, 2026. This initiative allows students with valid admit cards to bypass long queues at metro stations, facilitating quicker security checks and ticket purchases. With millions of students relying on the metro for their daily commute, this measure aims to ease travel stress and ensure timely arrivals at exam centers. The DMRC has coordinated with CISF to manage crowds effectively and has appealed to general passengers for cooperation. This service is vital for the approximately 43-46 lakh students taking the CBSE board exams this year.

Special Metro Access for Students

On February 20, 2026, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced a new initiative to prioritize students at metro stations during their examination days. This special access is exclusively for those holding valid CBSE admit cards.

The CBSE board examinations for Class 10 and 12 commenced on February 17, 2026, and will run until April 10, 2026. These exams are significant for millions of students nationwide, particularly in the Delhi-NCR region. Each morning, numerous students rely on the Delhi Metro to reach their exam venues, often facing overcrowded conditions that can lead to delays and anxiety about arriving on time.

Benefits of Priority Access

To alleviate these concerns, the DMRC has implemented measures to expedite the boarding process for students. The announcement made on February 20, 2026, highlighted that students will receive priority during security checks at metro stations. CISF personnel will focus on verifying students' admit cards first, allowing them quicker access to the platforms.

Additionally, students will enjoy expedited ticketing services. They will be served first at both ticket counters and automatic ticket machines (TOMs) by simply presenting their admit cards, thus minimizing delays and ensuring a smooth journey to their exam locations.

Coordination Between DMRC and CISF

The DMRC has coordinated with the CISF to manage the expected surge of students at metro stations during exam periods. Staff members have been given specific instructions to handle the crowds effectively. Announcements will be made at stations to inform passengers about the priority given to students and to encourage cooperation from other commuters.

The DMRC has also requested that general passengers assist students by allowing them to pass through when they show their admit cards. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that no student misses their exam. With approximately 43-46 lakh students participating in the CBSE board exams this year, the metro remains the most efficient and economical transport option in Delhi-NCR, making this initiative crucial for students.
