DUSU Elections 2025: A Major Event in Student Politics

Today marks the voting day for the DUSU elections across 52 colleges within Delhi University, where 21 candidates are competing for four significant roles.

The DUSU elections are renowned as a major celebration of student governance at Delhi University, and this year, the voting process has a unique flair. Students from various colleges, departments, and institutes are participating to elect their representatives. A total of 21 candidates are in the running, with intense competition anticipated for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary.

The presidential role is particularly captivating this year, especially with the inclusion of female candidates. After a 17-year hiatus, the Congress student wing, NSUI, has nominated a woman for the presidential role. Jocelyn Nandita Chaudhary is representing the NSUI, while the ABVP has put forward Aryan Mann. Anjali from the Left alliance (AISA and SFI) is also a contender for the presidency.

This election features seven female candidates, three of whom have previously run for the presidential position. The last female president elected was Nupur Sharma from the ABVP in 2009, making this year's election even more compelling.

Vice President Race: A Competitive Three-Way Battle

The Vice President position is also highly contested, with Govind Tanwar from the ABVP, Rahul Jhansla from the NSUI, and Sohan Kumar from the Left alliance all vying for the role. Notably, all three candidates hail from the Buddhist Studies Department.

Secretary and Joint Secretary Positions: Who's Competing?

For the Secretary role, Kunal Chaudhary from the ABVP faces off against Kabir from the NSUI, with Abhinandana from the Left panel also in contention. Kunal is studying in the Department of Buddhist Studies, while Kabir is enrolled at Law Centre-2.

In the Joint Secretary race, the ABVP has nominated Deepika Jha, also from the Department of Buddhist Studies. Luvkush Bhadana from the NSUI and Abhishek Kumar from Hindu College are competing from the Left panel.
