Delhi University Introduces New Entrepreneurship Courses to Boost Self-Employment Skills

Delhi University’s New Initiative for Entrepreneurship Education

Delhi University is shifting its focus towards preparing students for self-employment and entrepreneurial ventures, moving beyond traditional degree attainment. The Delhi School for Skill Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (DSSEED) has crafted four innovative courses centered on entrepreneurship, which will be introduced under the Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) framework. These proposals are set to be discussed at the upcoming Academic Council meeting, and upon approval, they will be sent to the Executive Council (EC) for final endorsement.

The primary goal of these courses is to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, equip students with the knowledge necessary to launch startups, and enhance their practical skills. The implementation of these courses will commence following the Academic Council's approval. The new offerings include: 'Entrepreneurial Mindset and Opportunity Discovery,' 'Design Thinking and Venture Development,' 'Venture Business Design and Go-to-Market Strategy,' and 'Entrepreneurial Communication and Investor Pitching.'

**Comprehensive Startup Education for Students**

The university emphasizes that these courses aim to provide more than just theoretical insights into entrepreneurship. Students will learn to spot new business opportunities, devise solutions to challenges, formulate effective business models, and strategize on how to market their products or services.

Moreover, they will gain hands-on experience in presenting their ideas to potential investors, launching startups, and scaling their businesses. This initiative is designed to promote innovation and self-sufficiency among students.

**Introduction of Arabic and Persian Language Courses at SOL**

In a bid to broaden foreign language education, the School of Open Learning (SOL) at DU has proposed new certificate courses in Arabic and Persian. These courses will be available in both online and offline formats. Learning these languages could be particularly advantageous for students pursuing MBBS, healthcare, and medical studies. The launch of these courses is also contingent upon approval from the Academic Council.
