Delhi University Expands Foreign Language Course Offerings for New Academic Year

Delhi University's Campus of Open Learning has opened admissions for foreign language courses, now including Russian. Students can choose between online and offline learning modes, with applications due by July 14. The university will conduct exams and issue certificates, enhancing the credibility of these programs. New Admission Opportunities at the Campus of Open Learning



The Campus of Open Learning (COL), part of the School of Open Learning (SOL) at Delhi University, has initiated its admission process for the upcoming academic session, focusing on foreign language studies. This year, students can look forward to an expanded curriculum that now includes the Russian language. Furthermore, the university is offering certificate courses in both online and offline formats.


Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications online before the deadline. The university will oversee the examination process and award certificates, thereby enhancing the value of these courses. Several new features have been introduced to improve the overall learning experience.


Introduction of Russian Language Course

In the previous year, students had access to certificate courses in eight foreign languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese. This year, the addition of a Russian language course marks a significant expansion, which will be offered in partnership with the relevant department at the university.


Flexible Learning Options Available

Students can now choose between online and offline modes for their certificate courses, making it easier for working professionals and those living in remote areas to participate. However, diploma courses will still be conducted solely online, as was the case previously.


Key Dates and Admission Process

The application process for these foreign language courses is fully online. Interested candidates can apply through the official portal until July 10, with the final application deadline set for July 14. Admissions will be determined based on merit from the entrance exams, with classes slated to begin in September.


Course Fees and Certification

According to Prof. Payal Mago, the Director of SOL, Delhi University will manage the examinations and issue certificates for all courses. The fee structure for each certificate course includes a registration fee of ₹200, a course fee of ₹10,000, and an examination fee of ₹510. For diploma courses, the fee is set at ₹15,000.
