In a recent initiative under the 'Child Protection Month' campaign, a total of 1,677 schools in Delhi were evaluated, revealing that 774 did not comply with safety regulations.

Conducted from July 13 to July 24, the inspection utilized a 'Student Safety Checklist' aligned with guidelines from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR), and the POCSO Act.

Key Findings:

Out of 1,677 schools inspected, 774 were found lacking in safety measures.

Breakdown of inspections: 790 government schools, 812 private schools, and 75 government-aided schools.

Deficiencies were noted in 270 government schools, 463 private schools, and 41 aided schools.

The data indicates that private schools had the highest number of safety violations relative to their total count.

Campaign Initiation and Objectives

This campaign was launched following a review meeting on July 6, where the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Delhi emphasized the need for thorough inspections of safety standards in schools as part of the 'Child Protection Month'.

Follow-Up Inspections

Schools that were found deficient in safety measures are required to make the necessary corrections. After these improvements, they will be re-evaluated to ensure compliance. Officials stress that this initiative is not just a formality; actual improvements will be verified.

The inspection teams consist of parent representatives, officials from the Directorate of Education, the Department of Women and Child Development, and the Delhi Police, along with school heads. They assess schools based on established safety criteria, initiating immediate corrective actions where needed.
