The Delhi government has officially released the admission schedule for nursery, kindergarten, and first grade for the academic year 2026-27. For fair admissions, the Directorate of Education has instructed schools to avoid previous criteria. This directive was upheld by the Delhi High Court. Schools must ensure compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act while formulating admission criteria.
Additionally, schools are required to publicly display the breakdown of points on their websites. They must also upload details of children admitted under open seats, including the points allocated. The circular emphasizes that any draw must be conducted in the presence of parents, and a video recording of the process is mandatory.
Furthermore, the circular reiterates that charging capitation fees or compelling parents to purchase the school's prospectus is strictly prohibited. Schools may only charge a non-refundable registration fee of ₹25. A district-level monitoring cell will oversee compliance with these regulations across all schools and address any complaints from parents during the admission cycle.
