Incident Overview

A significant controversy has emerged concerning the English examination on the opening day of the 10th-grade board assessments in Madhya Pradesh. Shortly after the exam commenced at the Government Higher Secondary School in Tukaithad, Burhanpur district, images of the question paper began circulating widely on social media.

Details of the Incident

The English exam started at 9 a.m., and it is alleged that Rajkumari Soni, a teacher assigned as a supervisor at the exam venue, uploaded a picture of the question paper to her WhatsApp status. Reports indicate that the image was shared on various social media platforms just minutes after the exam began.

An investigation revealed that the teacher captured a photo of the question paper that was left on the desk of an absent student. Furthermore, it is claimed that this photo was sent to another individual to assist candidates in cheating.

Administrative Response

Upon discovering the situation, District Collector Harsh Singh and other officials promptly visited the examination center. Following a preliminary inquiry, the teacher was suspended, along with examination center head Jitendra Kumar Kulkarni and assistant center head Anita Dixit due to negligence. Indore Division Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade initiated these actions based on the district administration's report.

Officials have stated that strict measures will be enforced against anyone who jeopardizes the integrity of the board examination. Superintendent of Police Devendra Kumar Patidar confirmed that a case has been filed against the teacher under the Madhya Pradesh Recognized Examinations Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police are currently investigating the matter and examining the involvement of others.

Future of the Examination

In response to the paper leak allegations, district administration officials assert that the question paper was not compromised. They noted that 109 students were admitted to the examination center before 8:40 a.m., and the question paper was distributed on schedule. The teacher's photo was posted around 9:06 a.m., after the exam had started, leading to the conclusion that it does not constitute an official leak.

As of now, the administration has not announced any plans for a re-examination, stating that the exam proceeded without issues and that there is no indication of a paper leak.
