Coal India Limited (CIL) has released a notification for the recruitment of 660 Management Trainee (MT) positions. The online application process will begin on May 12, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications until June 11, 2026. Applications must be made through the official CIL website.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
1. **Engineering Disciplines:** Candidates should have a degree in the relevant engineering field with at least 60% marks.
2. **Computer Systems:** A First Class BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or IT, or a First Class MCA degree is required.
3. **Electronics and Telecom:** A BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engineering) degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 60% marks is necessary.
4. **Geology:** Candidates must hold an M.Sc or M.Tech in Geology, Applied Geology, Geophysics, or Applied Geophysics with at least 60% marks.
5. **Rajbhasha (Hindi):** An MA in Hindi with a minimum of 60% marks is required, along with at least 50% in the undergraduate degree, having studied both Hindi and English.
6. **Company Secretary:** A graduate degree in any discipline along with Associate or Fellow membership of the ICSI is mandatory.
Age Limit Details
The maximum age limit is set at 30 years for General (UR) and EWS candidates, with no relaxation. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates receive a 3-year relaxation, making their limit 33 years, while SC/ST candidates have a 5-year relaxation, allowing them to be up to 35 years old.
Exam Pattern Overview
The examination will be a 3-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of two papers, each worth 100 marks, totaling 200 marks. Paper I will include 100 multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge/Awareness, Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability, and General English. Paper II will assess professional knowledge in the candidate's specific subject area with another 100 multiple-choice questions.
Salary and Bond Information
The starting salary for a Management Trainee at Coal India is ₹60,000 per month, potentially increasing to ₹1,80,000 (E-1 Grade). Employees will also receive benefits such as Dearness Allowance (DA), HRA, Canteen Allowance, Performance Bonus (PRP), medical facilities, pension, and gratuity.
Additionally, a service bond is required, mandating a minimum service period of 5 years (60 months). A bond amount of ₹3 lakhs must be signed at the time of joining, which will be deducted monthly at ₹5,000 from the salary. Upon completing the 5-year term, the total deducted amount will be refunded to the employee without interest.
