Chhattisgarh High Court Halts Constable Recruitment Amid Allegations
Court Intervention in Recruitment Process
The ongoing recruitment process for 6,000 constable positions in Chhattisgarh has been temporarily halted by the High Court. The court has instructed the state government not to issue any new appointment orders to selected candidates until the next hearing or a final decision is made. This directive was issued by Justice P.P. Sahu, who has also requested a response from the government within two weeks. The next hearing is scheduled for February 23.
Appointment Letters Issued to 2,500 Candidates
The state government informed the court that approximately 2,500 selected candidates have already received their appointment letters. However, the court has made it clear that further proceedings should be paused to ensure a fair investigation into the matter.
Serious Allegations from Candidates
Candidates from districts such as Sakti, Bilaspur, Raigarh, and Mungeli have filed petitions in the High Court regarding this recruitment. They allege that there were significant irregularities during the physical tests and that fairness was not maintained. They claim that certain candidates were deliberately given advantages.
Concerns Over Outsourcing Company
According to the candidates, the responsibility for recording data during the physical tests was assigned to an outsourcing company. Allegations have surfaced that financial transactions may have influenced the scoring, leading to violations of established protocols.
Key Evidence from Bilaspur SSP's Letter
Petitioners have submitted a letter dated December 19, 2024, from the Bilaspur SSP and chair of the selection committee to the police headquarters in Raipur, which mentions irregularities in the physical tests. This document is considered a strong basis for their petition.
Widespread Irregularities Suspected
The candidates argue that the recruitment was conducted under a single advertisement and by the same company across the entire state. Therefore, they believe that an investigation into irregularities should not be limited to just one district but should encompass the entire state.
Call for Investigation and Rule Violations
The petition references the Police Recruitment Rules of 2007, stating that if irregularities are proven, the entire recruitment process should be annulled. It also calls for an investigation by the CBI or an independent agency to uncover the truth.
