CBI Investigates NEET (UG) 2026 Paper Leak
New Delhi: On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated a formal inquiry into the alleged leak of examination papers for the NEET (UG) 2026, which took place on May 3, as confirmed by officials.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had to cancel the examination following serious allegations of malpractice.
In response to these claims, the government has tasked the CBI with conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
The NTA reported that it received information regarding potential irregularities on the evening of May 7, just four days post-examination, which was then escalated to central authorities for verification and necessary actions on May 8.
Based on the findings from the NTA and law enforcement agencies, the NTA, with the Government of India's consent, has decided to annul the NEET (UG) 2026 exam held on May 3 and will announce new dates for a re-examination.
This examination was conducted in 551 cities across India and 14 international locations, catering to nearly 2.3 million registered candidates.
