Bihar's Guru Shishya Parampara Yojana: A New Initiative for Cultural Preservation
Overview of the Bihar Guru Shishya Parampara Yojana
The Bihar government has launched the Guru Shishya Parampara Yojana through the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth. This initiative aims to train young individuals under the mentorship of experienced gurus, focusing on the preservation and promotion of Bihar's rich cultural heritage, including rare and endangered traditional folk and classical arts. Selected gurus will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000, while an accompanist will earn ₹7,500, and 160 trainees will be awarded a scholarship of ₹3,000 each month.
Convocation Ceremony
Upon completion of the training, a convocation ceremony will be held where trainees will showcase their skills and receive recognition for their achievements. This initiative is designed to enhance cultural awareness across various regions of the state.
Eligibility Criteria for Participation
To qualify for the Bihar Guru Shishya Yojana, the following criteria must be met:
1. The guru must be at least 50 years old.
2. The guru should be a resident of Bihar.
3. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the relevant endangered art form is required.
4. The guru must have a suitable residence and a designated training center.
Application Process
Eligible candidates interested in applying should visit the official departmental website at state.bihar.gov.in/yac/. They must download the application form along with all necessary certificates and submit them to the Directorate of Cultural Affairs either by speed post or in person by August 31.
