Overview of the Recruitment: The Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) based in Patna has released a notification for the recruitment of Food Analysts, offering a total of 11 positions within the Bihar Food Preservation Service, which operates under the Health Department. Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official website until June 19, 2026.
Vacancy Distribution: Out of the total vacancies, 10 are allocated for the General Category, which includes:
- 2 posts for Unreserved (UR)
- 1 post for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
- 3 posts for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC)
- 2 posts for Scheduled Castes (SC)
- No posts for Other Backward Classes (OBC) or Scheduled Tribes (ST)
Additionally, there is 1 post reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) under the Scheduled Caste quota, making a total of 11 vacancies across all categories.
Qualifications Required:
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in fields such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Biotechnology, Food Technology, or related areas. A minimum of 3 years of experience in food analysis is also required, along with passing the Food Analyst Examination conducted by the FSSAI.
Age Criteria:
The minimum age for applicants is set at 21 years. The maximum age limits are as follows:
- 37 years for unreserved male candidates
- 40 years for unreserved female candidates
- 40 years for both male and female candidates from Backward Classes (BC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC)
- 42 years for male and female candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST)
All candidates must be at least 21 years old as of August 1, 2026.
Selection Process:
The selection will be based on a Computer-Based Test (CBT) comprising 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for a total of 100 marks. The exam duration is 2 hours, and the question paper will be available in both Hindi and English.
The syllabus will align with the undergraduate curriculum for Food Analysts, which will be published separately on the BTSC website. Note that 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer, and if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, normalization of scores may be applied.
