Bihar STET 2026: Exciting news has emerged for those looking to become teachers in Bihar. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has officially announced the detailed notification for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026. Candidates who successfully clear this examination will be eligible to apply for the upcoming BPSC teacher recruitment examination (TRE 4). Importantly, the STET certificate will remain valid indefinitely. The application process will be conducted entirely online, and candidates are required to submit their applications within the specified timeframe.

When and where to apply?
Online applications for STET 2026 will be accepted from August 17, 2026, to August 31, 2026. Candidates must also pay the examination fee during this period. Applications should be submitted through the official website: http://stateregistration.cbtexam.in.


Exam Format

No negative marking in the exam


There will be no penalties for incorrect answers in this examination. If the test is conducted in multiple shifts, a normalization process will be implemented to ensure fairness in scoring.


Subjects Covered

Which subjects will be covered?
STET will be administered at two levels.
Paper-1 (Classes 9-10) will include subjects such as Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bangla, Maithili, Persian, Bhojpuri, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science, along with Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance, and Special School Teacher.


Paper-2 (Classes 11-12) will encompass subjects like Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Bangla, Maithili, Magahi, Arabic, Persian, Bhojpuri, Pali, Prakrit, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, Computer Science, Agriculture, and Music.


Eligibility Criteria

What is the age limit?
Applicants must be at least 21 years old as of August 1, 2026. The age limits are as follows:
General category (Male): 37 years
General category (Female): 40 years
BC/EBC: 40 years
SC/ST: 42 years


Required qualifications for Paper-1
A graduation or post-graduation degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks, along with a B.Ed. degree, is necessary. Under NCTE guidelines, candidates with 45% marks may also qualify. Those with a 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. degree can apply as well.


Qualifications for Paper-2
Post-graduation in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed. degree is required. In some cases, candidates with 45% marks, a 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed., or a 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. degree will also be eligible.


Relief for Computer Science candidates
A B.Ed. degree is not required for the Computer Science subject. Acceptable qualifications include BE/B.Tech (CS/IT), MCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science), or DOEACC 'A'/'B' Level.


Exam Structure

Exam Pattern
The STET will consist of 150 objective-type questions:
Subject-related: 100 questions
Teaching Art and other skills: 50 questions
Total marks: 150
Duration: 150 minutes
Syllabus Level: Paper-1 will follow the graduation level syllabus, while Paper-2 will be based on the post-graduation level of state universities.

General Category: 75 marks (50%)
BC: 68.25 marks
EBC: 63.75 marks
SC/ST: 60 marks
PwD (Persons with Disabilities): 60 marks
Female Candidates: 60 marks

Application Process
Initially, candidates must register using a mobile number and email ID. Following this, they need to fill in personal and academic details and pay the fee online.


How to upload a photo and signature?
A recent color photograph with a white or light-colored background must be uploaded. Signatures should be made using black ink on white paper.


Required Documents
All necessary documents must be uploaded, including certificates for Class 10, Class 12, Graduation, Post-Graduation (if applicable), B.Ed., Caste Certificate, Domicile Certificate, EWS, NCL, and PwD Certificate.
