BPSSC Vacancy 2025: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission has announced the opening of applications for 25 Assistant Superintendent positions (Ex-Serviceman - JCO/NCO) within the Home Department (Prison). Interested candidates can submit their applications online from August 30, 2025, to September 30, 2025, via the commission's official website.


Vacancy Details

This recruitment drive includes a total of 25 positions, distributed as follows:



  • 9 posts for the unreserved category

  • 6 posts for Scheduled Caste (SC)

  • 1 post for Scheduled Tribe (ST)

  • 3 posts for Extremely Backward Class (EBC)

  • 2 posts for Backward Class (BC)

  • 2 posts for Backward Class Female (BC Female)

  • 2 posts for Economically Weaker Section (EWS)


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be Indian citizens who are ex-servicemen, having retired from the roles of Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) or Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the Indian Army. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.


Ex-servicemen are defined as individuals who have served in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force at any rank, excluding those from the Defense Security Corps, GREF, Lok Sahayak, or Paramilitary Forces. Eligible candidates must have received a pension or been released from service for medical or other valid reasons. Additionally, serving JCO/NCO personnel who are set to retire before the application deadline may also apply.


Educational Requirements

Candidates should possess a graduation degree or an equivalent qualification recognized by the State Government. However, ex-servicemen with only a matriculation (10th pass) qualification who have served in the army for a minimum of 15 years are also eligible.


Age Limit and Application Fee

The upper age limit for applicants is set at 50 years, calculated as of August 1, 2025. The application fee for all candidates is fixed at Rs 100.


Selection Process

The selection will involve two examination papers:



  • The first paper will cover General Hindi (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours), requiring a minimum of 30% to pass, though these marks will not contribute to the final merit list.

  • The second paper will focus on General Studies (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours), encompassing subjects such as Science, History, Geography, Civics, Mathematics, and Mental Ability.


For each incorrect answer, 0.2 marks will be deducted. Two copies of the answer sheet will be maintained, with one retained by the commission. Based on the main examination results, six times the number of vacancies will be invited for document verification, ensuring adherence to reservation and category-wise selection. This number may be adjusted if there are insufficient candidates.
