Overview: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has announced the recruitment of 65 Company Commanders for the Bihar Home Guard Service Cadre, as per Advertisement No. 08/2026.
Applications are invited from male, female, and third-gender candidates (Kinnar/Kothi/Hijra/Transgender). The entire application process will be conducted online.

Vacancies Overview:
A total of 65 positions are available. A horizontal reservation of 35% is designated for female candidates from Bihar. Additionally, a 2% reservation is allocated for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of freedom fighters from Bihar. Candidates from outside Bihar will be categorized as Unreserved (General).

Educational Requirements:
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution, which should be obtained by 1 August 2025.
Age Criteria:
Age will be assessed as of 1 August 2025. The age limits are as follows:

Age relaxation will be provided to regular Bihar Government employees and ex-servicemen as per existing regulations.
Physical Standards:
Minimum Height Requirements:
General and BC Male - 165 cm
EBC, SC, and ST Male - 160 cm
All Female Candidates - 155 cm
Chest Measurements for Male Candidates:
General/BC/EBC - 81 cm (unexpanded), 86 cm (expanded)
SC/ST - 79 cm (unexpanded), 84 cm (expanded)
A minimum chest expansion of 5 cm is required.
Female Candidates:
Minimum weight must be 48 kg.
For third-gender candidates, the physical standards and PET rules applicable to the Backward Class (BC) category will be followed.
Selection Process:
The recruitment will occur in four stages.
1. Preliminary Written Examination:
100 objective-type questions
Total marks - 200
Duration - 2 hours
Subjects - General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Candidates scoring below 30% will be disqualified from the Main Examination.
2. Main Written Examination:
This will consist of two papers.
Paper-1: General Hindi

Mental Ability
This paper will carry 200 marks, and its scores will be included in the merit list. Negative marking of 0.2 marks for each incorrect answer will apply to both papers.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

The PET is qualifying only; scores will not be included in the merit list.
4. Medical and Character Verification:
Candidates who pass the PET will undergo medical examinations, character verification, and other necessary checks. Final appointments will follow.
Merit List Preparation:
The final merit list will be based solely on the scores from Paper-2 of the Main Examination. In case of a tie, the older candidate will be prioritized, followed by higher educational qualifications and then alphabetical order based on the 10th-grade certificate.
Salary Details:
Selected individuals will be appointed under Pay Level-6, receiving a salary as per the Bihar Government's 7th Pay Commission guidelines, along with applicable allowances.
Application Fee:
The application fee is set at ₹100 for all candidates. Payment can only be made through online methods such as net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. The application fee is non-refundable.
