Introduction to Model Schools in Bihar

New Delhi: In India, exams like JEE and NEET are gateways to the aspirations of millions of students. However, the high costs of coaching and the hustle of city life often become barriers. The Bihar government has decided to tackle this issue head-on by establishing model schools in every block of the state. These institutions will offer free preparation for competitive exams alongside regular schooling, providing a significant advantage for children from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This initiative falls under the Seven Resolves 3 program, aimed at promoting educational equality.

Features of the Model Schools

These model schools will be staffed by experienced teachers and specialists. Students will benefit from regular test series, access to modern libraries, doubt-clearing sessions, and career counseling. Starting from the 9th grade, the curriculum will focus on competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and Olympiads, ensuring that students build a strong foundation early on.

Timeline and Locations for School Launch

A total of 534 model schools will be established across the state, with plans to commence operations in the academic session of 2026-27. The education department is expediting preparations to ensure that this facility reaches every village, eliminating the need for students to travel to cities for their education.

Admission Process

To gain admission, students will need to take an entrance exam scheduled for March 11, 2026. The State Education Research and Training Council will oversee this examination. Students who perform well will be admitted based on a merit list, and the reservation policy will be in effect to ensure opportunities for all communities.

Significance of the Initiative

This initiative is poised to be a game changer for millions of students in Bihar. It will relieve them from the financial burden of coaching centers and the pressures of urban migration. Children from rural areas will now have the opportunity to pursue their dreams of becoming doctors and engineers. The government's goal is to eliminate educational disparities, and this step is a significant move in that direction.
