Bihar Assistant Professor Result 2026: A significant update has emerged for thousands of candidates awaiting appointments in higher education institutions across Bihar. The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) has released the final results for the recruitment of contract-based assistant professors across 211 new degree colleges. Alongside the selection list for six subjects, the commission has also published category-wise cutoff marks. The selection was based on a combined merit list derived from candidates' academic scores and interview performance. Notably, the Hindi subject recorded the highest cutoff, surpassing all other subjects. Additionally, the commission has provided information regarding vacant positions and those currently on hold.
Hindi Subject Achieves Highest Cutoff
In the general (unreserved) category, the cutoff for the Hindi subject reached an impressive 81.3 marks. Following this, the cutoff for Political Science was 79.2, History at 78.7, Sociology at 78.3, Economics at 76.6, and English at 76.5 marks. These cutoffs were determined based on the final merit list, which reflects academic performance and interview scores.
Most Candidates Selected in These Subjects
According to the list released by the commission, Political Science saw the highest selection with 422 candidates chosen. Hindi and History each had 418 candidates selected. In Economics, 411 candidates made it to the final list, while Sociology had 409 and English had 373 candidates selected.
Cutoffs for All Reserved Categories Released
The commission has also published separate subject-wise cutoffs for various reserved categories, including EWS, BC, EBC, SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates. Each subject and category has distinct selection marks, allowing candidates to check their selection status and cutoff based on their category.
Some Positions Remain Unfilled
Along with the results, the commission indicated that one position each in Sociology for EWS, BC-1, and differently-abled (DD) categories is currently on hold. Additionally, one position in the ST category remains vacant due to a lack of qualified candidates. In the differently-abled category, six positions in DD and three in BI also remain unfilled.
Reasons for Vacant Positions
The commission noted that positions in English (9), Economics (11), Sociology (10), and Hindi (4) are vacant for various reasons. It clarified that candidates who did not complete the application process as per the advertisement and guidelines had their candidacy canceled. The selection process for these positions will proceed according to established rules.
